CTIRNIDAYS: Making Suggestion and Requesting something

Making suggestion is a kind of our respond to other people about solution of their problem that is asked to us.

Here are some expressions we can use to make suggestions :

● I would suggest that …	● It’s a good suggestion, thanks.
● My suggestions is …	● You are right.
● What about …?	● Yes, let’s do it.
● Perhaps we should …	● I think so
● We’d better/we must …	● Yes, you’re right.
● A possible solution to your problem is …	● That’s what is in my mind.

Example making suggestions :

ž Lidya is telling you some problems she has. Give her some suggestions using the

expressions beginning:

I find it difficult to see the TV

Why don’t you go to test your eyesight?

*) Problem two :

I feel cold!

I think you should go to test your eyesight?

*) Problem three :

I don’t eat meat.

How about eating fish?

Requesting something is a kind of expression that shows that we want something, to have it, we need to ask for it.

Here are some sentences we can use to request :

● What you mind explaining the material again, Ma’am ?	● Not at all. Well, listen carefully.
● Could you come to my house this afternoon, please ?	● I’d love to.
● Please help me finish this asssignment. It’s complicated.	● O.K. Let’s get it done.

Example dialog requesting something :

Manuel :It looks like I could use another pair of hands. Colin, would you help me

with the box?

Reiven :Sure.

Manuel : I’m glad you come along. This is heavy!

Reiven :What’s in it?

Manuel : My new stereo equipment. I just bought it.

Reiven : Great! Where do you want it to be placed?

Manuel : In my dorm.

Manuel : Do you need me help to set it up?

Reiven : Thanks anyway, but I think I can manage. The salesclerk explained how to

do it in great detail.
